Context

A friend reached out to me about an idea he had for a collaborative storytelling platform that would allow professional and hobbyist writers of all levels to create stories together by contributing a beginning, middle or end.

I helped him identify potential challenges, solutions and mocked up an onboarding process.

One challenge we explored was quality moderation on the platform. How would we moderate the quality and suitability of writing from a platform viewpoint and simultaneously allow writers to do the same by creating a collaborative feedback process?

We decided on a review process, which would be baked into the onboarding process. As a part of account activation, all writers would be required to complete a full story introduction. This will assess their writing style and level and pair them with similar writers. This would also ensure there are always more introductions than writers on the platform.

Next, we explored a collaborative feedback process that would allow previous writers influence over the story in the form of suggestions and constructive feedback.
